Our topselling palm tree, stripped of its trunk. Trachycarpus is a winterhardy palm tree native to China. There it grows in the colder areas, making it a more winterhardy palm. It is a great palm for European gardens.
Normally Trachycarpus fortunei can sustain temperatures below -10, but a Trachycarpus fortunei stripped of its trunk is more vulnerable to frost. It is therefore recommended to protect it in winter, or put in warmer area during winter.
Trachycarpus fortunei is an easy palm to maintain, as it can adapt to many situations. As long as it is protected from the more severe frosts, it will thrive. It prefers a wind-free situation where its leaves remain tidier.
